Ava the Big

Ava the Big, a short story for ages 6-9, is now on its third, fourth, or fifth life!

I wrote it as a chapter book in 2013, then as a picture book in 2014, then sold it as a short story in 2014, published by Spider Magazine with illustrations by Tracy Nishimura Bishop in April 2018. I loved this character so much that I kept rewriting it (read the long story of a short story here in an earlier post).

But that wasn’t the end for Ava J. and Ava Z.! You can borrow it as a stand-alone ebook, available from Hoopla, Overdrive, Libby, and other library apps. Or you can listen to it as part of an audiobook collection from Cricket Media, My Name’s Not Chuck, available from Audible.com, featuring stories from Nancy Tague, Michele L. Rich, Bonnie Katz, Kate DiCamillo, Beverly J. Letchworth, and Teri Kanefield.
